Workshop: Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Eating Disorders
In this one-day workshop Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) in the context of eating disorders will be explored by one of Australia’s leading IPT practitioners/researchers, Elizabeth Rieger. IPT is an attachment-centred psychotherapy focused on resolving interpersonal issues, namely family and peer relationships. The primary aim of this workshop is to introduce attendees to using IPT in the context of eating disorders, either as a stand-alone treatment or as a component of Enhanced Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT-E) for eating disorders. Attendees will develop knowledge and skills for addressing interpersonal factors that are relevant to the onset, maintenance and response to treatment of these conditions. The workshop is suitable for students and clinicians working in the area of mental health who are seeking to gain skills in the assessment and treatment of interpersonal factors relevant to the maintenance of eating disorders.
