The Children’s Hospital Westmead will be holding two workshops for Family Based Treatment for Anorexia Nervosa. Please see details for each below:

Family Based Treatment for Anorexia Nervosa

Workshop Content
The aim of this workshop will be to provide intensive practical training in family based
treatment including:

  • Theoretical background
  •  Detailed description of each session
  •  Demonstrations by CHW therapists
  •  Role play scenarios
  •  Macro and micro skill development

By the completion of this workshop participants should be able to begin to use the Family Based Treatment model in their own practice/clinical skills.

When: Monday 2nd and Tuesday 3rd July 2018, 9am – 4.30pm

Where: Education Centre, Children’s Hospital Westmead, 212 Hawksbury Rd, Westmead, 2145

“In Real Life” – Advanced Family Based Treatment 2 Day Intensive Workshop

Workshop Content

Learning Goals of this workshop:

1. Provide participants with the opportunity to watch therapy sessions and discuss in
detail

2. Enhance micro skill development including questioning, following a therapeutic track,
eliciting detail from parents, managing a variety of perspectives in the room while
maintaining neutrality

3. Learn practical strategies in managing high expressed emotion in both parents and
adolescents

4. Consider a variety of ways to keep families moving forward in Phase 1 and 2

Prerequisites for the workshop would include:

  • Attendance at an Introduction to Family Based Treatment Workshop or similar
  • Experience in providing Family Based Treatment

When: Monday 29th and Tuesday 30th October 2018, 9am – 4.30pm

Where: Children’s Hospital at Westmead, Education Centre

Cost: $595 per person
