What is the NSW Service Plan?

The Centre for Eating and Dieting Disorders has been rolling out the NSW Service Plan for People with Eating Disorders throughout the state, changing the treatment landscape for eating disorders.

Current update:

  • There is an eating disorder coordinator in almost every local health district across the state, establishing and improving pathways to treatment for people with eating disorders.
  • We are building the capacity and capability of the workforce to be confident and competent to address eating disorders. This involves the development and dissemination of trainings across the state, including:

 Community management of eating disorders:

  • Webinar broadcasted on 9th May 2017 attended by 268 health professionals across the state.
  • Online eLearning training available here

Inpatient management for children and adolescents and for adults:

  • Workshop held in Sydney on 20th June 2017 attended by 114 health professionals across the state.
  • Online eLearning training available here

Family Based Treatment (the first line evidence based treatment for Children & Adolescents with Anorexia Nervosa):

  • Trainings currently being held in each of the local health district across the state.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for eating disorders:

  • Trainings currently being held in each of the local health district across the state.
  • Online eLearning training available here

We have just held our annual Forum, which was attended by over 250 health professionals, carers & consumers. The forum addressed engaging family & carers in treatment, how to develop models of care & embedding eating disorder treatment community mental health services and collaboration between the public and private sectors.
