NSW Public Health Services

NSW is divided into Health Networks. Each network spans a geographic area covering metropolitan, rural or regional NSW. There are two specialist networks that have a statewide mandate – Sydney Children’s Hospital Network and Forensic Mental Health Network.

The type of services available for people with eating disorders varies across the Networks – some are reasonably resourced and others have no targeted services.

Every child, adolescent and adult in NSW who has an eating disorder is entitled to access to appropriate treatment. Regardless of which Network you reside in, the local Mental Health Service is responsible for providing, or arranging access to, appropriate services. Ideally, these services will be located in close proximity to where you live. However, this is not always the case.
